after such lengthy negotiations, I don't want to see us accept a deal that leaves the slightest impression that Iran played us for chumps. It's obvious that Iran is trying to run out the clock on the Obama presidency, figuring that he wants a deal so badly that he'll accept anything, even a bad deal. That can't happen. IMHO, if Iran doesn't agree to a deal that gives inspectors no notice access to all of their facilities (no exceptions), we should step away from the table and ratchet up the sanctions to such an extent that Iran begs to restart the negotiations. If we do reach a deal, the existing sanctions should be lifted very gradually, contingent upon Iran giving inspectors access to everything. If they balk in the least, the sanctions should be reimposed immediately.
There's no doubt that reaching a good deal is in everybody's interest, but reaching a bad deal only benefits Iran. Iran needs to understand that if they do try to run out the clock on Obama, the deal they'll get from Hillary will likely be much worse for them.
