On other days, like yesterday, my hawkish persona emerges, and I recoil in horror at the thought of Iran possessing nuclear weapons and want America to do everything in its power to keep that from happening.
The reality is that the truth lies somewhere in the middle, as it does with most issues. I don't want Iran to possess nuclear weapons. However, anybody with a brain knows that Iran WILL develop nukes eventually, and there's nothing we can do to stop that short of all out warfare, and nobody wants that (except the Republicans, of course).
As you mentioned, many Iranians (especially young Iranians) love America and its culture. Hopefully, someday, they'll rise up and take Iran back from the Ayatollahs. When that happens, we want them to be friends with America, not enemies. Unfortunately, the sanctions are mostly hurting ordinary Iranians, many of whom blame America for their misery. It's obviously in everybody's best interest that an agreement is reached soon that's workable. If both sides wind up unhappy, the agreement will likely be a fair one.
