But if the way to get a handle on it, is to go to how it was pre-Brexit, with legal routes and processing centres in France, that'll never be allowed, with this media and in this climate.
I only know that it'd take all kinds of nonsense for me to get my wife to be able to live in the country of my birth, and I know that she'd be abused if we did. And I don't think that would have been the case twenty years ago (which seems mental). I know I'm lumping legal / illegal together, because they are sadly intrinsically linked.
It's all fucked.

The longer illegal immigration (around 50k) is left unchecked, the more it allows the right to blur the lines, and it becomes 'all immigrants'
Its already happening
Legal immigrants are now being subject to abuse and unfairness because of the illegal immigrants, and peoples perception
It might well be playing to the crowd, but it needs addressing.
The country absolutely needs immigration, and we need proper ways for people to apply for asylum, and decent fair ways for people to apply for citizenship and bring their families over.
100% agreed
But we also need to stop the illegal immigration through boats, because it dominates the headlines.
Shut that down, and pacify people.
And get on with fixing the immigration system.
The longer that goes without being address, the more all immigrants get lumped together.

What would you suggest in their place?
Just accept no nurses, no farm workers, no sanitation workers? No carers? As it appears few English workers will do those job.
I would like boat crossings to stop. They were almost negligible, *when there was realistic, accessible routes to immigration*. Unfortunately, due to racist knee-jerking, they were almost all pulled (not for white Ukranians though, obviously).
I literally don't give a shit if the person next door is from Toxteth or Timbuktu, as long as they're good people.
Given I'm an economic migrant, it would be pretty hypocritical to think otherwise. After thirteen years in the Middle East, I've not even learnt the language.
Just stick your Reform badge on and own it.

Of course tey arent in te room.
Byt look up any poll, most people would like the boat crossing to stop (I mean who the fuck wouldnt ?) and a majority in any poll say 800k net migration is too high. I mean do you think tat number is sustainable?

Does this overwhelming majority also want your internment camps for people who don't look like them?

I know in this age of culture wars and division we are supposed to take the opposite view on everyting the oter side say, but I would have thought we all could agree, stopping people risking their lives, paying criminals to cram the into unsafe boats and sending them off across the chanel, is a good thing.

to his level in that regard. But as fo4vthe substance of the issue, they have to stop the boats and reduce overall immigration, we live in a democracy and an overwhelming majority want both of those things.

gave the best description of Nigel Farage ever. He's a snake oil salesmen who says it will cure anything but when he's asked for a bottle he says he doesn't have any yet but he can get you a bottle.
