we dont have many of those
Doucoure was an athlete, and was good for us, but it boiled my piss the amount of times he miscontrolled an easy ball or misplaced a 5 yard pass.
Grealish loves the ball, he is like Ndiaye, his close control is exceptional and he makes defenders commit, make mistakes and give away fouls
He isnt lightning fast, but he is quick when dribbling, and that close control makes defenders shit themselves, he can pass too
He also has a point to prove. He is nearly 30, but after 2 average for him years, I think he has some good seasons left in him. At city he has had to be a system player, it is system above individual there, and I think if given more freedom he will enjoy it. Sure moyes will want him disciplined but I think he'll get more freedom than at City.
City have not been afraid to ditch players who dont fit the system who go on to do well, Alvarez had a good season in Spain, Cole Palmer looked decent but not great at City in the system, at Chelsea given some freedom he is becoming one of the best players in the world.
Grealish might just flourish. He's been well managed at City in terms of games played - 40 a season for 4 years. He will have learned fuck loads playing under Pep.
He is also very keen on the move and has turned down Fenerbahce and Napoli this summer. He isnt a player who is (just) signing for the money and will Google Everton later once the deal is signed. He knows the club
I think he is a very Everton player, the slightly flawed maverick entertainer who will score a hattrick then get pictured drunk in Popworld at 4am
It could be a disaster - absolutely it could - and if we'd spent 50m on buying him I'd be unsure
But I love it when we have 2 or 3 footballers in the team, and he's costing what Harrison and Lindstrom cost pretty much, I would bet he is far more effectively than they were.
Ndiaye is a footballer, Alcaraz is too (albeit developing) and Grealish is
McNeil is a decent footballer, but is painfully slow and sluggish sadly.
City want system players
Villa are REALLY fucked financially
Other clubs definitely had interest, but he didnt want to leave the northwest
Moyes likes him
If he can get him doing for us what Bowen did for west ham or Kudus, then great.
Moyes likes a footballer, Pienaar and Arteta were both footballers
I'm not saying we'll win the league, but he will win us games, with a goal from nowhere or a penalty or an assist, or even just freekicks / redcards from the opposition
Dewsbury Hall also showed signs of liking the football too
Ndaiye KDH Grealish
with Beto or Barry up top
gives teams plenty to worry about
throw in Dibling, moving KDH back and Grealish or Ndiaye central, and we suddenly have an attack that has options.
Far move frightening from open play than
McNeil Doucoure Harrison
And I still think McNeil is good and has a role, but we need a squad.
Footnote
I genuinely think Moyes knows he has 2 years, MAYBE 3 or 4 MAXIMUM before he retires
He doesnt want to pussyfoot around, some success, a cup, a european placing, would crown his career
I expect he is desperate for a cup, and will do whatever it takes to try make it happen.
No more safety first.
