aside from much of the Lampard era, he's been a regular starter when fit. Whatever fans may think, most managers seem to have rated him highly enough to stick him in the team. You wouldn't expect a player at this level to say "yeah, I'm pretty shit really, so will be happy to take a pay cut". Anyway, that's his negotiation position, but the club will have theirs. Sounds like he'll be off.
