if so it all depends whether he wants to carry on playing competitive football.
He and his agent probably know better terms at EFC is out of the question but are trying to show they won't go for a lowball offer. Question is how arsed the club are about keeping him. He's not negotiating from a position of huge strength but I would expect there to be some kind of offer on the table from the club and then it's up to him. Previous Message
If he thinks he can get a pay increase elsewhere then I have no issue with him taking it. That's his prerogative
There's no way we should be offering him a new contract on better terms though Previous Message
aside from much of the Lampard era, he's been a regular starter when fit. Whatever fans may think, most managers seem to have rated him highly enough to stick him in the team. You wouldn't expect a player at this level to say "yeah, I'm pretty shit really, so will be happy to take a pay cut". Anyway, that's his negotiation position, but the club will have theirs. Sounds like he'll be off. Previous Message
"And to be honest I won't reduce my salary to stay at the club because I don't think I deserve to reduct my salary. I'm playing every season, I'm scoring important goals, I'm very important for the club. No I should have an increase" - Abdoulaye Doucoure
