It’s a really interesting barometer of fan feeling for the best part of a decade!
For example, some pundit would probably say Everton fans never took to Marco Silva but this is a strong enough record to suggest that support for him fluctuated a lot. Previous Message
After 268 votes were cast, David Moyes has scored a hugely impressive satisfaction rating of 8.21! Amazingly only our resident dissenting voice, Jez C, gave a vote below the score of 6.*** Even our tourist kopite voters seem impressed with Moyes or maybe they are too busy burning TAA shirts to participate in this poll?
In terms of historical comparison, Moyes' 8.21 puts him in 2nd place behind Carlo Ancelotti as most popular manager with the fans of the past 8 years. Both of Ancelotti's first two polls returned 8.24 and 8.33 respectively which have for years been the gold standard of united fan support and Moyes has just pulled up a chair and made himself comfortable at that '8.00+' top table in his first few weeks in charge. Peak Marco Silva could only manage 7.73 with Dyche being the only other man to crack 7.5 (7.52) which emphasises Moyes current popularity.
Despite starting from an already solid support level, Moyes has improved poll to poll by a notable score of 1.83. A little surprisingly only one other poll to poll increase has been greater, with Marco Silva v6 turning around the fanbase with a 3.05 swing in favour after a storming finish to the 18/19 season. This emphasises just how quickly Moyes has turned around the team as he's turned all his doubters into believers.
Having navigated a difficult spell with so many attacking options unavailable, there are signs some of those players are close to a return which will aid Moyes in officially securing survival and maybe pushing even further up the table. However the immediate run of fixtures are daunting, with the Redshite and Arsenal in quick succession followed by Forest, City and Chelsea, by which time we will really see what Moyes can do with these players. Will the farewell to Goodison be a help or hindrance to Moyes and the team? We're about to find out and the next poll will be at season's end.
*** I obviously have no insight as to who the dissenting voter was, so I was just having a laugh there
