They can identify so strongly with her struggles and how hard it is yet none of them killed their children because somehow they still had an instinct to not do it despite whatever they were going through I’ve heard enough stories now of women who did go through actual psychosis that made sure their kids were safe above their own mental health issues to prove that these people are capable of knowing right from wrong.

They seem to be able to not distinguish between mental health crisis and culpability.

And I heard one juror specifically mention the altruistic filicide as a reason that they did not find her guilty, but for me that is the exact reason she is guilty. She knew it was wrong, but decided it was best for them anyway.

in order for the species to continue. They hate it so much that they think they should be allowed to kill their babies. I don't mean this as any exaggeration. I mean this truly and deeply.

Modern feminism has lead them to believed that they had a burden put upon them and it's unfair. Rather than looking at it for the gift it is.

Women often say "well things would be different if men were the ones who got pregnant." And they are right. Just like with all things we all ready do, we'd do our job like we're supposed to. When it was over we'd sit on the couch and watch football.

I don't mean you in this L&L it's definitely not all women. But I think you're in a minority now. Not saying it's a tiny minority but it's less than 50%.

It’s really a sad state. I wouldn’t trade it for anything personally. And to be fully honest without trying to sound sorry for myself , I had it harder than most, objectively. You do what you have to do and get through the hard parts, even if there are tears and anxiety.

Too much individualism rather than “we” in the family unit (what’s left of it).

And modern women are total wussies. They can’t fathom taking care of a baby alone for the first several months if not longer. I’m sorry, I took care of 2 preemies, one of which had complex medical issues, with no outside help and a husband who was gone working 120 plus hours a week. Eff you (not you) for thinking you have it hard with a husband that has 2 months paternity leave.

He just had a woman on who was going through legitimate post partum depression and psychosis, who, despite being super young (21 at the time of her 3rd child’s birth), had the sense enough to ask her family to take her children. She said her maternal instinct for the safety of her kids outweighed any shame of admitting her thoughts about harming them.

I’m not sure how it all went down, but she actually gave up custody of her kids (which seems crazy as one would generally think that she would get better and then be able to have them back rather than giving them up forever). But at least her kids are alive and she takes immense comfort in that compared to the alternative.

And this woman (I believe based on her testimony) had legit voices that intensified and stayed with her until she finally got the right help.

Even if you are in the throws of psychosis and are responding to internal stimuli if you kill someone without justification you are guilty of murder. I reject whoever decided that if you aren't of sound mind you cannot still be held accountable for your actions.

Having said that, it is very troubling there is literally no reliable evidence of psychosis. There has to be a reason why you are compelled to kill someone AND do not understand why it is wrong. How would killing your kids save them? Barring a strong delusional belief that God commanded her to kill them ... what was the delusion that justified her killing them?

I will say I'm troubled she sought medical help and was left with 3 small children but depression is not legal insanity. Psychosis is literally a fixed set of beliefs that does not change. Depression is not psychosis.

I really don't have the energy to deal with digging into this so perhaps more will come out but it's insane 11 people felt she reasonably was legally insane. Maybe it's time to abandon the whole charade. That being said, there are people with legitimate psychosis who can be treated with medication to be safe but if you kill someone you should never get released from some kind of mental institution. You are not like everyone else

but my guess is that for most people, theres a presumption of insanity if you kill innocent kids. but that presumption can be overcome in my mind if you made attempts to conceal your crime or evade responsibility (ie actions that evidence an understanding of right vs wrong). not sure where her facts fit in.

Post partum depression is real, but I’m not sure that hers was post partum

And I don’t think that it really matters either way what caused her depression. Post partum seems to me to be an identifier as a cause but other than that I don’t think the symptoms or treatments are any different than any other depression.

Ultimately, the prosecution had 1 good witness that made absolutely the most sense (Kirk somebody), and he said that she was basically suffering so much she decided to take her
Own life, and decided the kids would be better off “going with her” rather than left alive.

I am guessing, of course, but it seems to me it was more brought on by her impending return to work, and it spiraled from there.

I do think post partum exists, generally speaking. Yes, the hormones really are weird, even if you aren’t sick. Just normal happy post partum is still weird. You can’t always label it in the moment either.
