Plus bonus pic of my Les Paul.

It’s a “Tone King Royalist 45 Mkii”. That’s basically a fancy way of saying it’s a boutique Marshall JTM45 / Plexi. It’s an American made, had wired 60s / 70s voiced Marshall inspired tube monster. Think Hendrix, Zep, Thin Lizzy, AcDc esque tone.

What makes this special, other than just sounding really great, is it has a built in attenuator. The old Marshalls didn’t have a master volume and to get those massive tones you had to crank them…unbelievably loud. This knob (on the left) allows you to crank the amps tone stack and then back off the decibels that come out the speaker.

Tone preserved / volume reduced.

I saw it on price reduction at my local Guitar Center then promptly went to work selling two other Amps to fund this purchase. You’ll get there too, my frent. ;-)

that amp had to be expensive. it's wild how the jump in prices you see when you move to the next level.

the modeling 25 watt one i bought is going to be good for me for a while cause then next step up is like $300 for a used one.

and what do you have have there? This novice sees a humbucker and p-90s? Just spitballing here as i really don't know what i'm talking about about.

lastly, your guitar is pretty much exactly what i want. though i'd prefer one of the sunburst tops. but that one would do nicely.

Local GC has had the amp for several months at $1999. It dropped to $1499 so I snapped it up...

Sold a Mesa Boogie I had for 1000 bucks and have another Marshall I have listed for 500 bucks. If I can move the Marshall it'll be an even swap. I have so much guitar shit and records shit that when I want something expensive in either category I now go looking to see if I have a few things I can sell to fund my purchase or a large part of it.

Guitar is a 15 year old Standard. It's a workhorse of a guitar that's had a pickup and electronics swap to vintage spec and a refret somewhere along the line.

Two humbuckers. I just took the cover off the bridge pickup for more of a 60s Clapton / Mike Bloomfield era look. The "theory" back then was if you uncovered your bridge pickup it'd make it hotter.

I've always been drawn to very light bursts or Amber like I have. Lots of 58/59/60 bursts fade to almost this because of the natural dyes used in the Red back in the day were light sensitive, so over the years they washed out.

So, there's my geekery for the day.

i need to get a lot better before i start dropping coin. this Epi Les Paul is going to be just fine for a long time. i'm pretty sure it's a high end one. and for what i paid, i'm more than happy.

kinda bummed the that the guy purposefully stripped the varnish off the back but it was done by a luth. so...
