It’s a “Tone King Royalist 45 Mkii”. That’s basically a fancy way of saying it’s a boutique Marshall JTM45 / Plexi. It’s an American made, had wired 60s / 70s voiced Marshall inspired tube monster. Think Hendrix, Zep, Thin Lizzy, AcDc esque tone.
What makes this special, other than just sounding really great, is it has a built in attenuator. The old Marshalls didn’t have a master volume and to get those massive tones you had to crank them…unbelievably loud. This knob (on the left) allows you to crank the amps tone stack and then back off the decibels that come out the speaker.
Tone preserved / volume reduced.
I saw it on price reduction at my local Guitar Center then promptly went to work selling two other Amps to fund this purchase. You’ll get there too, my frent. ;-)
