. . . batshit crazy. Emotionally stunted. No coping skills. No ability to reason. Reflexively scared and angry. Perpetually frustrated. Addicted to their victimization fetishes. Always blaming someone else for anything less than ideal in their lives. Desperate for constant affirmation.

I have no idea what has caused this widespread problem. But I heard a brief radio segment this morning that maybe explains things, at least to some degree. Handing out cell phones to young girls still in grade school and junior high significantly increases the incidence of all kinds of emotional and behavioral problems. Multiple studies out there for many years documenting this reality.

being single in chicago was how absolutely heart-breaking the modern system is for women, particularly in their 30s.

i met tons of women who were struggling with the realization that they would never become mothers and would likely never get married, and it had a terrible impact on most of them.

of ever becoming one. and survey data states that the vast majority of the 50% who don't become mothers didn't do so by choice, but because they simply didn't meet the right person at the right time.

there are certainly cases where a woman pushes the process. fratstud and i worked with a gal who wigged out, quit her job and moved to london to go to pastry school. when she figured out that being a pastry chef pays sh** and that she didn't want to be a 39 year old making $16 an hour, she moved in with her mom in arizona, met some dude online and got knocked up within a couple weeks of meeting the guy.

heck, i went on a couple dates with a woman who was 37 and had a best friend the same age who decided to give up on the chances of natural conception and go to the sperm bank. said friend was convinced that her odds of finding a man would greatly increase once she was a single mom.

but those are edge cases. for most women, meeting a partner means 1-2 years of courting, a 6-12 month long engagement and then some amount of time trying to get pregnant before you have a kid. and any breakup in the middle of that resets the entire timeline. and, make no mistake, there is a hard end date. the odds of a woman giving birth after 40 are so low that the government barely even keeps the stats - they generally lump them in with 35 year olds. when you see the disaggregated numbers, you're looking at less than 5% of births to women over 40, with the number basically rounding to zero once you hit 45.

And that was in the late 1960s when people tended to marry and start having kids much earlier than they do now.

It's admittedly anecdotal but many of the professional women I know married in their late 20s and did not start having kids until their early 30s.

Just the selfies and staged photos blows my damn mind. Friend of mine went on a family trip to Europe and included their son’s gf (both 24). The sheer amount of photos required (and it wasn’t just the gf but damn near every other 20-30 something) needing thousands of photos in very particular poses in front of not only the typically important historic markers but in front of LV or Tiffany’s or Cartier or the stairway of a restaurant.Many with what seemed to be hired photographers. everything and every amazing place was just a freaking photo shoot to everyone, men and women alike. They didn't take one second to appreciate what they were seeing and experiencing..the history..the architecture, anything.

One lady dropped her phone and said. "OMG, if that broke, I mean that's your whole LIFE!". My friend turned and told her she didn't have a phone - and they all looked at her like she was from Mars, truly.

She journaled everything instead. And took nice photos with a camera. I wager my friend will have way better deathbed memories rather than screen after screen after screen flashing through their empty heads.

Hey, I saw it all starting in 2010 in China..when we were approaching the Great Wall..and some of the people wouldn't look up from their "phone" to see it. I knew then this whole "social" media stuff would only make everything worse and was made fun of on these boards. I still believe I was proven right, no one will ever convince me otherwise.

They probably don't agree with 80% of it, but they willingly push it because they need to be a part of the group that validates them and doesn't make them face their shortcomings and inability to attract a provider male.
