Just for the fuck of it, I ordered anchovies on my pizza yesterday

and I liked it.

What's funny is that I have to think that if you grew up in the 60s or maybe even early 70s that anchovies were a very regular topping. So much that it was almost included without asking. Why else as kids would we have heard so many time "Get a large pizza and someone would yell out AND NO ANCHOVIES!"

Another thing. I think some point in the early 80s american finally learned how to eat pizza. Because of the biggest problems with pizza was it always burned the roof of your mouth. I even remember a scene in the movie The Sure Thing where he was talking about writing a paper on the topic how to eat pizza without burning the roof of your mouth.

I can walk to it from my office. I ordered an anchovie pizza from its years ago. I love canned fish of almost all kinds. Eat it all the time. But at least this anchovie pizza was a little too strong, even for me.

anchovies, mushrooms and black olives from Pizza Hut, but back in 2020 they got rid of anchovies. They really are perfect on pizza, particularly on Pizza Hut thin & crispy crust.

If you like anchovies, you should get into sardines as well. There's some stuff called Baltic Gold that you can get at World Market or the grocery store. It's money, bro.

If I'm not mistaken, the pizza delivery ordering scene in ET had the famous "everything but the little fishes" line. My old man thinks that movie specifically is what killed the idea of anchovies on pizza.

and i don't need all that. i know there are some that are packed in water.

I have always liked anchovies and have had them on salad dozens of times. But never on a pizza. I will do it again.

Sardines are packed in a pretty clean olive oil, it ain't like a Monsanto commercial

If you want jarred fish without oil the best bet is pickled herring. I can eat a pound of that stuff in one sitting.

Have two jars of Riga sprats from different providers sitting on the shelf right now. Picked them up last weekend from some local Eastern European food markets. But I do typically get the Baltic / Riga Gold brand from World Food Market.
