First, dickhead, approve ADUs. Garages, basements, backyard units- tens of thousands of people, affordable, plus extra income. Second, put some multi-story buildings on commercial streets near public transportation- if you have a Whole Foods or Target then a 6-9 story building (hell, why not a few?) within a couple blocks (not half a mile, WTF) shouldn’t be a problem. Then get all the street camper assholes and nutjobs off the streets. Make the assholes pay to live somewhere. The nutjobs, put them in facilities. THIS is the fight Trump should take to the new SCOTUS. If someone is nuts, house them with or without their permission until either they’re no longer nuts or they die.

And personally, I’d rather see a year in jail (housing) for street beggars who stand at corners with cups and signs more than flag burners- just me.

i've got to say, it's about time. the prior model was a complete and total sh**show. when i was in school, the school wanted to build (desperately needed) student housing on land the school owned right across the street from the law school.

when they had the city council meeting to approve the building, it turned into a disaster, with the guys who ran the pizza place that was then in the space and every nimby in cambridge showing up to oppose it.

Your neighborhood is already littered with 2-5 story apartment buildings, many of them there since the 1940s and 1950s.

I get that you don't want them on your specific street and block. I understand that.

My argument is this isn't going to change the character of your neighborhood all that much. Maybe some of those old apartment buildings get replaced with larger ones.

I still don't think you're going to see anything more significant than duplexes on your block in your lifetime.

No. These look to be very nice apartments.

Unfortunately, I do have some section 8 apartments not too far from where I live. They were placed there 20+ years ago before any other development occurred. Would love to see those gentrified.

LA County's Inclusionary Housing Ordinance requires 5-20% of new residential construction over 5...

...units to be set aside as "affordable housing". Affordable housing is calculated as no more than 30% of the Area Median Income. That equates to 1 in 5 apartments in the San Gabriel Valley at current must be rented for about 2500 dollars a month or less.

No landlord can refuse Section 8 vouchers but if those vouchers don't make the rent then the person with the voucher doesn't qualify for the unit.

Just thought you might like to be correct on the topic.
