i think its fairly obvious the memo is out that dems want to outreach to more traditionally masculine white guys (i.e. men with average testosterone levels who dont wear pussy hats). so, this was what their theater club came up with to accomplish that aim. whatever.

my point is, you do too little weight, you look like a pussy. too much, you look like a meathead... show evidence of struggle and you get picked apart by both ends of that. so, i think the goal is to do the most weight that you can appear to do with ease. that at least offers the illusion of "well, maybe he could do a lot more?"
