This was admittedly not the most defensible police shooting around although I do not find it nearly as indefensible as many people are trying to make it out to be. I think the officer fired too soon. However, I think that had he waited just a few more seconds, permitting the man in question to get closer to him, the shooting likely would have been more defensible.

The officer was fired by the Louisville police department within a few days of this incident. Yesterday, he was indicted on second degree murder / manslaughter charges.
