First, there’s no such thing as expediency anymore. Every legal process is excruciatingly slow, continued ad nauseum. It’s designed to just wear you down, and drive you bankrupt.

Second, qualified immunity is a joke. Cops, DA’s, various levels of government can use their power and deep pockets to go after you with limited recourse. If they ultimately do get held accountable it mostly falls on the taxpayers to foot the bill.
