9 times out of 10 the victim called to make the problem go away and doesnt actually want the case to go forward. the state wants the case to go away too... but doesnt want to dismiss immediately just in case there is anther issue where he comes back and kills her or something, which would be a pr nightmare for them. so kick it 6 months and make him get a certificate and it probably ends there.
