of my own kids and wife of my youth to watch develop. I can’t say I took any more enjoyment from Coleman Hawkins or Trent Frazier as Keaton Wagler or Derek Harper (went pro despite ANOTHER YEAR OF ELIGIBILITY WTF!!) but I do see Keaton as a footnote amongst Illini greats like I see Jack Clark or Will Clark compared to Stan Musial or (sorta? Albert Pujols). Does Yadi get more love for his loyalty? Maybe 10 year old me would have given more, but the longer someone stays the more their weaknesses are exposed. I would love to see how things could work for Wagler if he stayed one more year… not many role models for that (wasn’t great for Toppin, right? Did it work out for TSJ- who was no Keaton).
