and no one outside new york and california itemize anymore thanks to trump and his generous standard deduction. the better way is to have a hdhp and a well funded hsa. as the contributions and gains are tax free

that should be tax deductible. Now you can say people are getting tax subsidized health care plans. Ok. I get that. Then at least your out of pocket expenses that are part of deductibles and/or co-pays should then be.
