that should be tax deductible. Now you can say people are getting tax subsidized health care plans. Ok. I get that. Then at least your out of pocket expenses that are part of deductibles and/or co-pays should then be.

and no one outside new york and california itemize anymore thanks to trump and his generous standard deduction.

the better way is to have a hdhp and a well funded hsa. as the contributions and gains are tax free

So based on 100k if you spend 10k on bills you only get to write off $2.5k. I could be wrong.

Under my plan 100% of out-of-pocket expenses would be tax deductible. If not 100% then 50% or something.

One part I am not clear on though is currently can you include your insurance premiums if you’re paying out-of-pocket? That does change it a bit, but I thought it was just straight up medical expenses, but I really don’t know.

I *think* the premium is also deductible, or used to be anyway. I recall the 7.5%

too. We had a lot of medical bills once, yet I was surprised when it still was under the standard deduction..after I called every place and got all the bills together..ugh
