now, this is all contingent on taz's version of events being consistent with the facts that would have been introduced had the matter proceeded to time of trial.
but if someone (1) harassed a father and child; (2) cold cocked a woman with glasses; and (3) knocked a third person unconscious--all without an iota of provocation-- thats not someone who'd be on my radar for a diversion disposition as a prosecutor.
taz is receivign kudos for her "forgiveness", but in all actuality im not sure it isnt cowardice. the hard thing to do would have been demanding justice, appearing as a witness, and identifying the perpetrators in open court. the reality is that her approach was the easy way out and likely puts others in harm's way. just my opinion. you have to read the whole post for complete context, but i'm going to offer quick comment on a particular portion below:

first of all, let me say that i'm glad taz wasn't seriously hurt in this fracas.
travel back in time ~4 short years and you may recall that there was a concerted push from democrats to "defund the police"... in lieu of cops, the stated plan was to send in social workers to "de-escalate" aggressive criminals. now, anyone who has ever stepped two feet into reality knew what an utterly insane proposal this was-- yet every democrat you know supported it.
here we have evidence of the real world application of such wisdom. it should be noted that this anecdote involves a public place and teenage girls. we can only imagine the success rate this plan could have yielded with adult men who had committed felony crime.
