I don’t believe our squad is necessarily finalised for the first half of the season, yet. But any further additions presumably depend on whether Woods and/or Hawkes can find alternative employment.

Can’t see another striker coming in, though. More likely another right-sided defender and/or a left winger.

No way that we would have taken Payne back again if Mellon had expected Woods to still be with us by the end of the transfer window. And also no way that Drummond would have been playing left winger, had Steven’s not been crocked (again). Also doubtful whether we would have brought in Nevitt as backup to Fondop if MM had expected to bring in another main striker.

Needs a quick and firm strategic decision now on whether to stick with a back 4 or change to back 3 with wing backs. That will dictate priority for any further additions before the end of the month. But if we can’t shift either Woods or Hawkes it’s probably moot and we will have to make the best of the squad we’ve currently got.
