I hate this time of year, especially a World Cup year, when we are in the Limbo period before the start of a season and nothing (apart from that cricket circus tournament) is happening. Roll on the 8th August and some serious football. With a couple of weeks to go before the first game I usually have an unrealistically giddy frame of mind about our chances of success but not so this year. I’m more than disappointed by the acquisitions so far, considering that last year MM used the excuse that he had little time and didn’t know which league we would be in. This year he has no such get out and can’t have any explanation for the lack of quality signings. So, for a change I’m not expecting anything this season and I think the bookies have got it right, no better than 10th.
