Let's not tar them all with the same brush though. I have seen many examples of young people and schoolchildren giving up their seats for elderly people. The reason why I noticed was that I was surprised!

Men were always supposed to give up their seat for ladies too but you don't see that much these days for the fear of being accused of sexism or some other PC mamby-pamby.
