My old fella used to play for Block Lane FC on that pitch. I think Freehold school used it back in the 60s as well? It was about half way up towards the former Hare and Hounds by the side of the railway line. He tells me that during the war it was also used by US forces, to play baseball watched by crowds of locals a few deep lining all 4 sides of the pitch such was the interest back then. Memories😃
