if you chance to arrive early on matchday and watch the players warming up (for far too long for my liking!), they spend a great amount of time doing short sharp passing routines back and forth on the pitch. Come 3pm and the referee blows his whistle to start the game all 10 outfield players immediately suffer a mind fog or memory blank and start hoofing the ball up the pitch. So it does seem to me that Mellon is coaching them in passing but they are then completely ignoring that coaching! Or is it me?
