As a leader, the buck stops with you and even if your team don’t perform - it is still your responsibility. He seemed to be talking very emotionally which after so many years in the game, really shocked me.
He has to take accountability - he chose the tactics, the formation and the team and it didn’t work. He chose to fundamentally change a strong formulae from the week before.
He clearly didn’t take his team with him and the first 20 mins was as confused a looking team as I think I’ve seen. They didn’t seem to know where to be or what to do. Surely that is down to the managers preparation.
To then lambast his strikers publicly was really poor - Fondop seems to bear the brunt every time. Yes he didn’t have a good game but he has gone from this bubbly, passionate, confident player to someone who looks lost on the pitch - his words are hardly going to breed confidence are they. And the other striker was Quigley, who he has just bought!
No problem with him having a quiet or even loud word with his players in private but you don’t do it like that - it’s an example of how NOT to lead your team in any industry.
He needs to start protecting his players and taking responsibility himself.
