Wouldn’t dream of calling you strange, but think you’re probably in the minority there. Most seasons, first home match often one of the best attendances of the season - after making some notional adjustment or allowance for who the opponents are.

Either new season = new hope for better than what has gone before. More often than not quickly descending into disillusion for all but the hardcore.

Or maybe a lot of people just enjoy watching the games in shirtsleeves weather rather more than freezing their appendages off in midwinter.
