On Saturday night I didn't sleep well because of the excitement and was up at 5am on sunday to drive the 20 miles to the ground, and noticed a bloke on our road in an oldham shirt ,We both looked at each other, gave a smile and thumbs up.
I arrived at BP at 6.15 am thinking i'd be first on the coach but the queue to board went from the car park behind the joe royle stand all the way around the RRE, down sheepfoot lane to the premier inn !
On the coach with friends peg and chairman, I did the lucky sports quiz that worked again, and we stopped at B'ham services to be greeted by hundreds of jovial latics fans singing.
When we arrived at the pub next to Wembley stadium
full of hundreds of latics fans young and old, in many of the different team shirts over the years, singing the repertoire of songs and generally all making friends with each other.
In the stadium which looked incredible, an hour before the game latics fans were out-singing southend and the tension and sense of excitement was unbearable, but the feeling of pride was fabulous for our team to be playing at Wembley.
You know the rest, but for me, I have never heard a roar and screams which pierced the eardrums when our third goal went in, and the crazy scenes of people falling over each other and hugging and crying was something i will never forget.
