Any time any keeper comes out for a ball and doesn't then get to it, he has made an error of judgement, in danger of conceding.
But if he stays on his line to collect the ball, wouldn't that have been free kick to Southend for the back pass?
Monthe would have done better to knock it back wide for a corner, if possible. But had to do something with it. The Southend player had him beaten. I thought Hudson & Monthe were jointly to blame. Also wondered whether the noise was so deafening, compared to what they would be used to in NL, that they couldn't hear each other's shout?
In general, Hudson is a mixed bag. Makes some excellent saves that many other keepers at this level wouldn't. But against that also makes a fair numbers of errors of judg.ent, regarding when to come out for balls & when ot to. You would think a top gkcoach ought to be able to help him with that.
