All pens have characteristics of flow and surface imbibition of the feed that make them compatible with some inks and less compatible with some others. Usually a pen can be tweaked for flow to work well with any decent ink. It is easier, however, to find a good pen/ink combination and settle on it. It is always a good idea to flush the pen in cold water often, especially with red and purple inks and with some aqua and green inks.
