Remakes of "The Postman Always Rings,"Nightmare Alley," and "Mildred Pierce" have already been made. "The Man With the Golden Arm" may deserve its own remake.

The source novel is far darker than anything seen in the Otto Preminger film. The conclusion of the book does not contain a "Hollywood ending."
