The reviews indicate that this movie, in addition to my other concerns about it, is very stylized and employs fancy Brechtian distancing devices. On Westlake’s straightforward and moving material! So no, I won’t be seeing this. 😠

Very few movies these days can make it past the trailers and reviews for me, VERY few. The reviews don’t even have to be negative, they just have to convey facts about the project that utterly don’t appeal to me.

I have become a “live in the past” kind of guy. But this has been building for years. Post 1990 (when I was only 32), there is less and less in contemporary culture that interests me. Some good TV series during the Oughties are the primary exception.
