Director David Lynch died today at 78. A good many people are fans of Mulholland Drive, which I think is more than a bit of a mess. I prefer Fellini's mixture of dreams and reality, but I may give it a second watch. Years ago I tried twice to read "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, and it took me a third try to get through it with enjoyment. Give me Blue Velvet and Eraserhead. Regarding Eraserhead, I once read that while in art school in Philadelphia, Lynch was influenced by the noir look of parts of Philly. In that regard he had good company in David Goodis.
