I'm hoping that this somehow leads to an approach more akin to JACKIE BROWN, which remains my favorite effort from QT. Lower-key, with a more personal mode of character interaction--but with more sleaze! :-)
I note that the comments at World at Reel were REALLY negative about QT, and someone reporting from Cannes was seriously tweaked about the poor print quality for ROLLING THUNDER:

I'm an advocate for ROLLING THUNDER, not least because of Linda Haynes, who brings her usual beauty combined with a slowly-evolving brittle grit to her role. Need to watch it again, maybe in tandem with THE NICKEL RIDE for a double dose of Haynes.
