Our on-and-off correspondent (a man of many names and many destinations...) kept a blog under the title of "Patrick Murtha's Diary" a few years back, which he used to write about anything and everything that interested him (wide-ranging stuff, not just about noir or movies).



Here, however, is one of those entries that fits like a glove here: a look at two contemporaneous TV noirs featuring private detectives (Peter Gunn and Michael Shayne).

I think including several of the other shows of this type that dotted the landscape from 1957-1964 (Johnny Staccato, Mike Hammer, Richard Diamond) would have made this into something even better, but it's an engaging read.
