Just finished the finale, and I also would have given it a B. Unlike the great Italian series, GOMORRAH, where the ending could only reasonably be pre-ordained, Ozark's ending did surprise me, yet in a good, non-moralistic way. With a central noir premise of so-called "upstanding" middle class adults whose personal flaws lead them into a vortex of crime and violence that they can't control, each season turned darker and darker, where by the last handful of episodes it resembled a typical episode of the aforementioned GOMORRAH. Looking at IMDb it seems that many viewers didn't like the ending . Perhaps they didn't want the series to end or they wanted it wrapped up with pretty pink ribbons. Bateman and Linney as Marty and Wendy Byrde are both very good, Marty with a semblance of a conscience and Wendy who turns more sociopathic as the series progresses. However, as Ruthie the spunky little piece of white trailer trash trying to extricate herself from a family history of criminal dysfunction, New York actress Julia Garner steals the series.
