I am in no hurry to seek out "Behind Green Lights" or "Waterfront at Midnight."
As a general rule, I tend to enjoy Cyril Endfield's movies (both his American made films and British productions). "The Argyle Secrets" was an absolute stinker. The script, written by Endfield, himself, never made much of its potentially interesting premise (Axis war criminals seeking to enter the USA following the war).
With the sole exception of "Night Editor," I cannot think of a single noir themed picture that Gargan appeared in that was actually worth watching. I exempt "I Wake Up Screaming" from consideration because Gargan's appearance was that of a minor supporting character rather than one of the leads. His screen time was minimal.
"Strange Impersonation" was probably one of the worst films that Anthony Mann ever directed. It was difficult to understand why Brenda Marshall and Hillary Brooke were vying for the affections of the dullard Gargan. The Pine-Thomas unit's "Midnight Manhunt" was also a losing proposition despite the presence of Ann Savage, Leo Gorcey, and George Zucco.
