I asked Eddie directly by message about Larceny and this spate of previously unreleased noir films and he said Kino licensed a bunch of Universal titles that hadn't yet been gotten the digital treatment. He also confirmed "Eddy von Mueller" is not him.
This gets me excited about Shakedown possibly getting a significantly upgraded release at some point, since it's a Universal title as well. My list of solid to excellent noir films requiring some measure of restoration or official release is getting much smaller with Larceny and Guilty Bystander being crossed off in the last couple of years. Hoping for Rogue Cop, The Devil Thumbs a Ride and The Night Has A Thousand Eyes but those at least have somewhat watchable copies available on the black market. At least in terms of the major studios, though, these are the ones still out there looking for upgrade love. Shakedown is the last one, I believe, that is truly dreadful shape and unreleased ... but we know at least one clean copy exists. It's been shown at Noir City at least once.
