We have recieved word that all charges have been dismissed. Although voices were raised and threats made, Deputy Barney Fice was instructed by Sheriff Taylor to drop all charges as the threats were never carried out.
There is still a possible civil suit in the works though.
Ellie Walker was quoted as saying "this ain't a two cotton ball town Emma!"
Emma, after correcting Miss Walkers english (she ain't gonna say ain't anymore) will consult with her attorney, Neil Bentley, to see if she is within her rights to purchase her cotton balls somewhere else. The City of Mayberry several years ago signed an agreement with Walker Drug to be the exclusive supplier of cotton balls in the city. Mrs. Watson claims that agreement is exclusive to Christmas cotton balls only, and does not apply to regular cotton balls. Miss Ellie Walker says that charge is silly. Anyone could buy them through out the year and store them for Christmas. Therefore, and twowhit, the exclusivness of the agreement is enforced year round.
Deputy Fice indicated "this could be tied up in the courts for years".
