Prison pressures
Posted by Cuba on 5/8/2026, 12:22:24
Why do we still have some many “baddies”???
Why can’t people just behave, be nice to each other and stay in the boundaries of our legal system.
34% of prisoners are in for violence, 22% for sexual related crimes and 13% for drugs.
72% of offenders are White British
Surely we must better understand these crimes figures so people who absolutely should be held for longest are not released due to the lack of space caused by the Tories.
Why do people offend??

72% are white British, in a predominantly white British population, are we supposed to be surprised?
If you looked at per capita of the population / ethnic origin, that would tell a different story.
The bloke won't reply to you mate. He mentioned it because it suits his narrative. Asks why people offend yet is oblivious to his (granted, small part) in stirring up hate with his continued blinkered one sided posts on the internet. He's a fuckin loon ball.

I get why you posted most of the figures but why the white British comment? What difference does their nationality make?
As for 'why do people offend'. That's a very simplistic question.
Every single person currently in prison will have their own individual reason.

There's about 10k foreign prisoners in UK prisons, which if they weren't here would negate the need for so many early releases which is undermining the rule of law in the UK and is massively distressing for their victims too. But obviously that will upset some on here so to balance it out foreign prisoners make up about 12% of the prison population whereas foreigners in UK overall are about 19% of the UK population. Therefore foreigners are actually under represented in prison.
There. Hopefully I have now managed to upset EVERYONE.outlaws is not the barometer of sanity. You're either Luton full tilt or you are nothing. We have spunked way too much money on shite. The end.

I'm just parroting a couple of quick Google searches mate. Basically I asked what percentage of prisoners in UK are foreign and what percentage of UK population is foreign and then I shared the percentages on here. Google didn't go into any detail more than what I have repeated above so I don't know in answer to your question. Personally I don't give a fuck what colour someone is, I only care what they think is right and wrong and how they behave. I think people are capable of behaving in any possible way so I try to never write a person off, but I will criticise anybody's behaviour if I think they behaving badly. Somebody recently implied on here that I am full of hate for Muslims for example. I'm not, I like all people. But I might not like specific behaviours of people. It's not that complicated to understand but I am pretty sure some people will still not be able to understand that. My basic guiding principle in life is based on Buddhism and a very specific strand of Buddhism at that, which most people are unaware of. It's based on the Lotus Sutra which teaches that everyone has the same potential to be in the highest possible life state at any given moment. It's quite difficult to stick to with some people because if their behaviour is completely abhorrent the temptation exists to write that person off permanently. In Buddhism that is considered a grave mistake and guaranteed to lead you to suffer as a result. But despite knowing that I struggle with certain peoples behaviours. Ultimately I do trust the Buddhist teaching though. Sorry, bit of a long answer 🤣outlaws is not the barometer of sanity. You're either Luton full tilt or you are nothing. From what I understand, crime levels are relatively low by historic standards and the reason for the overcrowding crisis is because there has been political pressure for judges to give more and longer prison sentences - e.g. sentences for robbery in 2023 were 13 months longer on average than in 2012. So there's not more crime, just the same number of criminals (or lower) getting banged up for longer.
That said, you're right of course that the levels of violence in society remain unacceptable and hard to comprehend. I was in A&E the other week - obviously nobody is having their best day but the amount of men looking like they were about to kick off was really striking. Just chill out lads alright?

No godleness anymore.
Selfish society influenced by utter gobshites on social media.
The levels of aggression seen continues to shock me every day, the way some people treat their supposed loved ones, the way some people drive etc etc
Fix the root causes for this and we would have much better green and pleasant and reduce the reasons for prison overcrowding.
One fix would be to cancel Eastenders.Winning is everything - more than you have

I agree. But what do you think the root cause is? Far from me to agree with anything bbb says but he is right that everyone has their own reasons why they commit crime. That said, I still think it xones down to very few reasons in the end such as inequality/poverty, lack of hope, feeling of inadequacy/undervalued. These are broad terms deliberately.

Why just Eastenders? All soaps have similar storylines.

It surprises me anyone still watches the soaps. All they promote is negativity. Even my once hardened soap fan of a mrs stopped watching them years ago! Ban them all.

They are stuck in the 6 lower worlds (life states) because these life states are effortless and people who don't know about the concept of the 10 worlds basically don't understand how to climb out of them.
