Favourite moment supporting the Town

For me it was on the train back from West Hampstead after we'd won the League Cup. All of a sudden the carriage fell silent as it sunk in what we'd achieved. I thought about my dad who'd first taken me to KR 19 years earlier, who'd stopped going in the early 70's, but encouraged me and my brothers to stick at it, knowing that full well he'd be jumping around the living room, pleased as punch for the Town, and pleased as punch for the town. And as pleased as punch for his sons. And the historical family connections we have to the club.
I have to remind myself of this every time I've left a game early this season (more than ever) and the away games I haven't bothered with. Yesterday I was even - out loud - considering not bothering any more after a season at Power Court. But of course that's just performative nonsense. We might just win twice more at Wembley this season, and I'll be there for it. And so will all the new name negative posters (if they even actually exist).
I'm still undecided on JW, but our most successful (and my favourite) managers in my lifetime have all been a bit mental, JK and Newell prime examples.
We could do with finding anothe oddball if Jack doesn't work out.
Just to add seeing 7000 Luton at Newcastle in the cup with my son was awesome.
The march to the ground with many 80s old faces lots of whom i knew ,really impressed him So much he filmed it Value what we have because we nearly lost it all.
Yes! I remember watching it through Sky Sports News with a couple of bottles of Pinot Grigio on the go. The satisfaction when the result was confirmed was overwhelming, I did shed a few tears. The next day we had a reserve game at home (yes, I went!) and the relief at KR was palpable. Sweet and Still were at their most amiable. Then I went and got very drunk in Dunstable.
When we won the 4th division in 1968. I had 9nly ever seen us slide down the divisions so that night against Crewe was magical. Many other highlights since all of which have been mentioned by others but that first one was special
It was certainly up there in atmosphere terms. And if that was NAG's first game, what a great one to choose. Hatters for life mate. Can't think of a club I'd rather support.
It would be the playoff final but my Dad couldn’t make it, so I’d say the previous ‘out of body experience’ match we went to together was the 94 QF replay against West Ham and Scott Oakes hat trick. We’d been to the Newcastle home game together as well
Just the whole mentalness of it all together. I was convinced we would win the cup that year
The play off final against Coventry the moment the lad skied his penalty. So special to witness that stood with my 2 lads. Not ashamed to admit I cried my eyes out whilst hugging them both. Thinking of my old man who had last seen us play in the conference. For that I'll be eternally grateful for all those at our club that made it happen.
We can all act supremo-macho men on here, but I've cried at all the right times. For me though, I really felt it for Dabo* when he missed his penalty. Yes, I was in tears, but not only for us.
I don't really care about other teams that much, but the Coventry fans were full of praise for us, for how we gracefully reacted at our victory.
Got to be the play off final for me too. Being there with my lad is something i'll never ever forget. The moment that ball went over the bar was just a feeling that i will never forget. After that would be 1988 Littlewoods.
sept 1963, my very first time climbing the steps behind the Oak Road end, walking through the opening at the top onto the terrace to view the pitch and stadium. I was absolutely dumbstruck by the site. This can never be repeated.
I've always been a KR end man (apart from the obligatory years in the Maple Triangle), but it's the same for me, the walk up Hazelbury Crescent for the first game of the season, going through the (ever-decreasing) turnstyle, up the few steps and the first glimpse of the pitch - an absolutely magical moment. It still gets me. Even now it's the standout moment.
Pretty much all of the 1980s. Seeing Pleatys side grow and evolve , magnificent football to watch , some horrible hammerings but always stuck to their principles and then carried on until that marvellous April day in 1988
Coventry play off, me and my lad had been to them all through the conference and I had to console him after everyone. This time he had to hold me up, I balled my eyes out and not ashamed to admit it. Unfortunately it's beginning to look like it never happened and the fall is as equally heartbreaking.
I remember walking away from the Stadium of Light dejected after the 1st leg. I also overheard a couple of Sunderland fans talking about how rubbish we were and how they'd have no problem at KR.
But it was Kenilworth Road at its febrile, intimidating, nervous, noisy best. From the first whistle you could just sense something special was happening.
Yeh, that was a very special night. Them complaining how tall and intimidating we were, and didn't we just show them how tall and intimidating we were!
Play off and Arsenal cup final are out on their own for all sorts of reasons .... But honourable mention to 84 FA cup semi final, when the ball pinged in off the post after Ricky hit it I am convinced the whole ground fell silent for a split second as everybody Luton and Everton fans went Christ we have bloody scored before all hell broke loose celebrating
Every game at KR with my old man from the first time he took me in 83 until we stopped it will always be remembered.
Had some great end of season games staying up and Hartfords bicycle kick return was a special day.
Loved that Sunderland 2md leg in more modern times could be the last time we get that as football is changing and so have the crowds.
Wrexham away the year we went up under BFJ was lovely but a great feeling having put together a great team. We practically took over Shrewsbury that year and 4 nil at Hull was superb.
