Where are we going as a football club?

...apart from backwards.
I really didn't want to vent last night as there's probably more emotion than necessary a couple of hours after a defeat.
But that was exasperating. And it frankly is not good enough. No where near good enough.
What has happened to the away form? 1 point in 6 away games is akin to the relegation battles in the level above.
Wilshire and Powell are playing a certain way. The same "identikit" playing style every other English coach is taught in St George's Park. Akin to the Arsenal of this year and yesteryear. We are not Arsenal. These are League One footballers.
We need to stop the rot immediately. But this isn't all on Wilshire. Its a swiss cheese - the holes are lining up and have done for the last 18 months.
In the summer, I said that there needed to be a change at the top. No one in leadership should survive two consecutive relegations especially with the resources at our disposal.
Despite our so called lack of spending, I would estimate that we're spending around £30M in wages and transfers this season - more so than the promotion season. And probably over £100M since that final.
This pains me a lot.
Our recruitment is broken. The model isn't working. We are not bringing in the "strongmen" (awful word, I know) that is needed at this level. The character, rough and tough. The bully boys. The Fair Play League has us up to top - no team should be there... it means your team isn't being tough enough.
I feel sorry for Lawrence. He is not ready for men's football. He's been designed for the "City Project" - players designed for that style.
If Luton do not make the play-offs, it is an unmitigated failure.
We have the rest of the week to sort this out.
If Devante Cole is the answer, it says a lot about our recruitment. He opitmises mediocrity and bang average-ness.
So the original question - where are we going? I said in the summer, we need a "Project 2030". A new vision for the club which includes significant investment into the team. I'm not close to it - but the situation with HH is extremely disappointing.
I'm a strong supporter of Power Court in its current guise. But I can see the 2028 target being missed (again). And it won't be acceptable at this point.
It seems to me 2020 are happy to let the football side go to shit while the stadium gets built. The club seems to have declined on the pitch and on the recruitment side since halfway through the Prem. The fans seem to see what's needed before the board, since the Jan Prem window. Then they belatedly admit they made mistakes but not to worry next time will be better. Same on the pitch, lack lustre or mistake laden displays followed by talking of how we will learn from this only to see it repeated again and again.
Basically we might as well all write off this season and the next 2 because any success is probably going to be by luck rather than intent. It's full steam ahead with the stadium and everything else has to wait. That's how it looks unfortunately.outlaws is not the barometer of sanity.
Of course they are not happy with the football side, but clearly they dont know or have the skills to fix it.
It is now time to get a director of football maybe that could be powell. Hiring wilshere who clearly hasno idea about league one, what it takes to win matches at this level or the type of players needed, was amassive error.
The recruitment policy needs to change, go back to what we did before. Tried and tested ready made olayers for this level sprinkled with younger prospects.
Interesting Wilshire said in his post match football has changed since he last played. He hasn't played at this level and tippy tappy Arsenal football doesnt work, you need physicality and strength like Luton if old. All the recruiting including prayers, managers , coaches has been rubbish for a while now. Wilshire looks like a Sweet vanity project, not Jacks fault at all but he is completely out if his depth. If we concede first Saturday things could go seriously down hill.

Just curious, how can you see the 2028 target for Power Court being missed, so far we are on track with the current stadium plan? I do expect some delays could happen due to unexpected complications once the groundwork is all in place but nothing to seriously delay the opening date.
With regards to 2020, I do agree, I feel the current scouting transfer setup have not worked, but that has been not JUST on 2020 and (for the lack of a better word) transfer director whatshisface fault. Having an inexperienced manager in Wilshere and not a very seasoned manager in Bloomfield has probably not really helped in getting through the message what kind of player they want for the team plus their (MB AND JW) own knowledge of avaliable players have not been very good.
Yousuf Sajjad and Jay Socik have proven to be a total waste of time and money, though I can imagine they're told to look for the cheapest possible players by a board only looking at a payday for themselves when the ground is done.
The rot is at the top. We called for a director of football to release Darth Sweet's grip on the football side he treats like a toy for himself. But he's too Billy big bollocks (and tight) to get it done. Where does the money really go? There is a poison in the club and I am amazed how long it has taken many of you to wake up to it.
Good to see the podcasters calling it what it is. Don't be fooled by open days at the club. Shout it loud and expose the mismanagement of the club.
Disagree it's about directors seeking a pay day at the expense of the club. I think they just have tunnel vision on getting the stadium built, but because that's where they believe our future will be assured, not for self aggrandisement. outlaws is not the barometer of sanity.
