QPR yesterday signed Rumarn Burrell from Burton to replace Kelman.
Plymouth had wanted Burrell and are back to square one in their search for a number 9.
With this in mind you can see our logic of looking at Gbode.
QPR were also keen on Samson Tovide from Colchester, may be an option for us now?
We seem to have some snob factor at looking at League 2 but we were signing League 1 players when in the Premier League…..
I know you are obsessed with us signing Michael Cheek but have you considered why we may be taking our time signing a CF?
Pure speculation but Bloomfield may have his heart set on player A, say Al-Hamadi. Player wants to come to us, Ipswich are willing to sell but need some replacements bought in first. Hence why Bloomfield has said we most likely won't complete our signings before Wimbledon game. We also have a plan B if the move doesn't happen.
I don't see the point of bringing in a journeyman striker who would only be 4/5th choice anyway, taking up a squad place and a salary.
I know our recruitment has not been great of late but I have enough faith in the club and management to make the right decisions around such an important position.
If I'm wrong, I'll be the first to put my hands up although I'm pretty sure we will get in at least one very decent striker by the window.
Not sure I share your faith RR in the club and management, they did buy Nordas for over £2 million. I personally think we need 2 new strikers, one on loan possibly to cover until Eli is back and one permanent.
As below RR, my worry is mainly if events conspire and/or Ipswich/Stoke change their minds and we are then under pressure to still find someone with a guaranteed track record.
I would place a Cheek or a Jatta ahead of Woodrow and Nordas regardless. Both should be moved on.
Don’t get me wrong Al-Hamadi or Lowe (like Kelman was) are by far the preferred options but we have seven games to play in August and we all want to start well and continue that.
The rest of the squad, with Alfie likely going and replaced is more than good enough to challenge for the title.
When we last moved into this league (from L2) we had far better forward options, so I think it’s fair to expect upgrades soonest bearing in mind our objectives and relative wealth.
Proven striker plus a PL loan striker at the end of the window would be good.
The reason I keep saying this is a concern is that we are waiting on two players in Al Hamadi and Lowe that may not happen and then will be left chasing our tails or wasting money as per Nordas.
Cheek would have been a far better signing in January than Nordas was.
No narrative, just want us to get the final pieces of the jigsaw done.
