    High blood pressure.

Posted by Curious hatter on 28/4/2024, 18:58:35

Any info on how to get my BP down, it’s very high, apparently.
Obviously, less beer, less stress, but anyone had the same?
    Tips, much appreciated.

    Thanks

Beetroot juice- very good for BP.

So good in fact, that if you are on BP meds, they don’t advise drinking it, as it could make your pressure go too low.

          Good tip

How many beets do you need to eat to lower blood pressure?
In some studies, drinking about 2 cups of beet juice daily or taking nitrate capsules lowered blood pressure in healthy adults. Beet juice may also help your stamina when you exercise. In one study, people who drank beet juice for 6 days had better stamina during intense exercise.27 Dec 2023

            Exercise more. Lose weight.

However. If your parents had it for instance you might not be able to control it without medication.
            But get it checked mate.

                Reduce salt intake.
Don't measure BP during or after booze, or in the morning.
                If tubby, shed some pounds
Exercise. Not crazy stuff, just a decent 30 minute walk
                Magnesium and zinc tablets,
Make sure cholesterol is not high.
I also have virtually cut out meat.
                I've gone from 150/100 to 115/75
Most of all , if you get a high reading don't fret. It happens.Calm down, wait a while, and take your pressure again.
If you get your BP down you may still get a bum reading.
Don't buy a wrist monitor. You can get machines

like the doc uses for less than £30.
A bit superficial, but I hope that helps

Cayenne pepper, sprinkled on food or stirred into hot water.

                    Helps if you like it.

It's worth asking at your GP surgery for nutrition advice. Too much salt and ultra processed foods are really bad for your blood pressure. Also, if you don't do much exercise, a good steady walk every day will help.

It also might be worth asking the GP for a course of statins.

Ummm, too much cholesterol is a cause of high blood pressure.

Eating too many doughnuts can also contribute to both.

I forgot to say: obviously supporting Luton as we fight for promotion/ get involved in a relegation scrap every year isn't good. Consider swopping to Bristol City or a similar dull mid-table side.
