    WALT on Osho

WALT on Twitter getting their (his) knickers in a twist over Osho potentially only having 6 months left on his contract.

If it's true I do think it's an error by the club, but equally it's only a year ago he was derided as being properly shit.

Personally I don’t care what’s happening with the players and contracts, as long as I can turn up and there all roughly 11 bods running around in the fairly and transparently voted for orange kit I’m happy as Larry

            Didn't you get the email??

            _____

Dear [Valued Consumer of Soccer Product - replace with name from database],

I trust this letter finds you in good health. I am pleased to share with you a significant development for Luton Town Football Club.

It is with great enthusiasm that I announce the successful negotiation of a new contract for the highly talented Gabe Osho. We firmly believe that Luton Town Football Club is the ideal environment for Gabe, and this new contract presents a golden opportunity for mutual growth and success.

Key highlights of the contract include:

Duration: The contract spans a period of four years, commencing on 1st July 2024 and concluding on 30th June 2028.

Salary: Gabe Osho's annual salary is set at a competitive £2.5 million, with monthly payments made on the first business day of each month.

Signing Bonus: In recognition of Gabe's commitment to Luton Town Football Club, a signing bonus of £500,000 will be disbursed upon the formal execution of the contract.

Performance Bonuses: Gabe Osho is entitled to performance-based bonuses, with specific benchmarks outlined in Schedule A of the contract. Achieving milestones such as goals scored, assists, and team accomplishments will trigger additional financial rewards.

Image Rights: Luton Town Football Club retains exclusive image rights for Gabe Osho, allowing for the use of his likeness in marketing and promotional materials.

Club Loyalty Bonus: Gabe will receive a loyalty bonus of £1 million for every year completed with Luton Town Football Club, payable at the end of each contract year.

We are confident that this collaboration will not only elevate Gabe Osho's profile but will also bring substantial value to Luton Town Football Club in terms of on-field performance, marketing opportunities, and fan engagement.

Thank you for your time, and we eagerly look forward to the success of this partnership.

            Love and kisses,

Yes it is. People are saying that it's an error by the club that the club have allowed his contract to run down, in others words blaming the club, when actually the club might have done all it can reasonably do.

                An error?

When we signed him to a two year contract with a one year option a lot of people would have said that was an error as you say, because we could "do better".

Now, that extra year's option may well have been all that Osho would sign in the Summer. If so, what's the error by the club?

Posted by HH on 12/1/2024, 10:11:02, in reply to "Re: WALT on Osho"

I do have sympathy with both perspectives.

From the club's - if they only can get the player to sign for 1 year, then what else can they do?

Simultaneously, the way it's worked out, we could be letting someone go who is worth £10-£15m for nothing.

And you know a club like Palace or something would probably offer him 40k a week and a huge signing on fee if he runs his contract out.

Rock and a hard place from the club's position.

Posted by MG on 12/1/2024, 10:55:08, in reply to "Re: WALT on Osho"

Yes, the simple fact is that we can only sign players that none of the rest of the league want and if they are then particularly successful we can only keep them if no-one else wants them.

Obviously it's not quite that simple but in broad brush terms that is the challenge.

It was (apparently) a one year option in the club's favour that we exercised rather than a new contract. Well that is what I saw reported.

I think the club knows how long is left on his contract.

If it is up this summer and the club want him to stay I think it's a fair bet that they've been working on this for a while.

If the club choose to allow him to leave then I trust their judgement.

If an agent is being a sod about it then that's a different issue altogether.

Point being is that there is always more to things than meets the eye. It's relatively easy to get our proverbial knickers in a twist over something without thinking about it just a little deeper.

Surely the point though is if his contract is up though, the club don't have a choice in that matter? It's purely up to the player.

Yes, you're right. What I should have said, in the context of the previous paragraph, that the club may have decided that they weren't going to bother offering him a new contract although that would appear to be a nonsensical thing to do. We just don't know what goes on behind the scenes.
