In this case, it’s not really comparable risk though. Ipswich are sending out a player who isn’t going to feature for them anyway, their downside is minimal.

Meanwhile we were paying wages, using a squad spot and taking the hit if it doesn’t work.

In that situation, wanting a conditional break clause doesn't feel unreasonable. I just feel like next time we signed an injured player on a season long loan, it feels somewhat pragmatic to have a 'if they haven't featured in 10% of the games by January condition, we are sending him back' condition built in.
