I think it's a healthy thing to debate. Obviously Sheff is entitled to his opinion and there are probably people who agree with him. It's a philosophical nuance where he and I disagree and I think it's an important one to hold up for further scrutiny. I agree with you there's a bit of an element of the white saviour with Sheff (Sheff please feel free to challenge me on that, but that is a whole discussion to be had just on that subject alone). I also would quite like to discuss with him in more detail my idea about how perceiving the original post to be racist is in itself quite racist, if he wants to.
