The one thing I cannot criticise for is the capacity of the stadium. I strongly agree with the approach.
This is not a building for today it’s tomorrow and many tomorrows. It’s for the next 50++ years.
We need to have a reset - a “Project 2030” of sorts… promotion back to the Premier League by 2030/31. Ambitious, but why not. Such project needs to come with significant investment on the pitch… I’d argue £25M of additional Equity up to that season. The board have openly said that they’ve not pumped any equity aside from COVID related costs, since before that period. During the non league years, the board invested about £10M underwriting losses. If feels time that there’s a fundraising period again.
If we have a capacity of 18,000 or slightly over, we fill it straight away. And there’s not much room to expand.
Doing it straight away can longer term save money. And we’re not going to go any higher unless the profile of the club changes.
Football has never been so popular as an attended sport in the U.K. In fact, sport in general has never been as possible as attendances broadly grow across the spectrum.
