Unless you have witnessed, first hand, their contracts, pay-slips or bank statements then you don't know any such thing. You have, merely, been told. Which is rather the point, because where there is uncertainty or doubt there is deniability and flexibility.

I wouldn't imagine the questioner even knows what he knows. Despite, apparently, having a mate who was involved in the deal he's so far been unable to describe a scenario whereby RB was contractually entitled to leave on a free yet, simultaneously and paradoxically, the club were able to dictate to whom and demand a fee.

Which, again, just goes to show that no matter how much people keep parroting that 'people in football know' line, they absolutely, demonstrably, don't.
